Last August my partner and I travelled to Japan. We started with Tokyo follow by Kyoto and then Osaka. It was our first time in Japan and we decided to visit the main cities. Hopefully one day we can go back and visit more of this beautiful country.
While Tokyo is very retro futuristic, Kyoto is more traditional. After 5 days in the crazy Tokyo, it was kind of a relief arrive in Kyoto where beautiful temples, shrines and gardens are hidden behind every corner and sliding door.
Kyoto is also known as the city of tea ceremonies, in fact it is here that we tried our first matcha tea. I must say, it wasn’t love at the first sight. The taste was so bitter and strong that we barely finished it.
Lately we have found out that the matcha we tried was very low in quality. In fact there are different type of matcha with different qualities and prices; inferior matcha tastes unpleasantly bitter (like as I said) while a superior one is sweet and smooth. Of course, higher is the quality and higher will be the price.

For his endless benefits, I have started to include this superfood to my daily diet since our trip to Japan.
I love my warm superfood matcha latte in the morning on weekdays or my matcha protein smoothie bowl on weekends.
The day that I consume matcha (you only need 5gr) I overall feel energised, strong and super concentrated.
Go and try matcha! Once you try it, you won’t need coffee anymore.

Matcha Protein Smoothie Bowl
Vegan, Gluten free

Ingredients
1 tsp Matcha powder
1 tsp shredded coconut
2 Tbsp brown rice protein powder
2 big frozen bananas
1/2 ripe avocado
100ml coconut milk
Instructions
Blend all ingredients in a high speed blender and top with anything you like.

Notes
If you don’t like the taste of protein powder, you can skip this step.
I like to have proteins in every meal because they keep me full longer.
